Lake Darling is a reservoir located in Ward County, North Dakota, United States. It was created in 1936 by damming the Souris River and provides water storage, irrigation, recreation, and flood control. The lake covers an area of 9,035 acres and has a maximum depth of 55 feet. Popular recreational activities at Lake Darling include fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, and bird watching. The lake also has several boat ramps and a marina for boaters to access the water. The lake is named after the famous American conservationist, Jay Norwood Darling, who played a key role in the establishment of the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
